Friday Things

Today’s pic is from the Hirshhorn museum in DC.  It was the last few days of the Infinity Mirrors exhibit, and I was unsuccessful at getting more passes before it ended.  The museum had an Infinite Afterparty from 6-10pm with music, cocktails, films and of course a chance to walk through the exhibit. My bf surprised me with tickets to the party as an extra treat.  It was very cool!  There were hardly and lines for the rooms and we had a chance to see them as many times as we wanted.  When we finished, we went to the main level for drinks and a free Haiku.  The wait was a bit long but worth it.  I’m so happy that I was able to see it again before it left.  My next chance would be in Cleveland in 2018.

This week started off very busy but has thankfully slowed down.  I haven’t had a quite Friday in a while now, and it’s a great start to the weekend.

After taking a week or two off from baking, I’m ready to get back into the kitchen.  I studied my cupboards and refrigerator last night to see what I could come up with. I’m really starting to like the challenge of finding recipes that will only require purchasing one or two ingredients from the market.

I’m also really starting to like cooking.  I guess I always liked it, but now I’m becoming more comfortable with it and having fun.  And now I have two guys to cook for who like to play armchair food critics.

I was chatting with a dear friend last night who said we should start a podcast about food.  We both think it sounds like fun. Stay tuned!

Sounds like it was a great weekend and what a beautiful photo. I’m always in need of food inspiration, sick of eating the same things xx

The Infinity Mirrors exhibit looks so amazing! I had never heard of it before you shared, but after looking at pictures of the various rooms, what a cool experience it must have been to be able to attend the afterparty to get a more private glimpse of the exhibit!

  4. I currently have 3 bags of chocolate chips in my cupboard and a cup of coconut that I need to do something with πŸ™‚

  5. I totally agree! There are so many recipes where I only need a small amount and I’m left with so much.

  6. I made a sign in my kitchen, “In this kitchen we…” and one of the things I listed was “cook what’s on hand.” It’s fun to try to make food on the fly that may never be made again, using just what you have in the pantry.

That’s like my cooking and baking, I look in my cupboards and scrounge together something new. It’s like a puzzle to me to figure out how many different things I can make using the same ingredients in my kitchen!
