Since my office moved approximately two blocks from our original location, it’s become increasingly difficult to find a place to eat for lunch. Walking back to our old area seems too far (no judging) and the food trucks are just beginning to discover the park across from our building as a great place to camp out. So now we’re exploring places closer to the Mall (Smithsonian) for restaurants which means spending a little more money. Luckily there are some good places in City Center that have great lunch specials. Mango Tree is one of them. For $17 you can get an appetizer, main dish, and soft drink. For DC, that’s not a bad deal.
I decided to start with the chicken satay. It’s pretty hard to go wrong with satay. The chicken is always nicely grilled and skewered and I love the peanut sauce for dipping.
For the main course, I decided to go with the stir fried vegetables. I love my meat, but I can be a veggie girl too! The stir fry was served with a fried egg on top which I quickly moved to the side (I don’t eat eggs). The veggies were nice and crisp, the soy and tamarind were spot on and there was a small bowl of sticky rice on the side. This was such a change from the hotdogs I’ve been eating lately. I’m definitely going to come back and try their dinner menu.
