One of my co-workers took me to Lincoln for lunch as a birthday present. That morning, I had a temporary crown put on and was very numb, and worried that I might not be able to eat by lunch time. Luckily, the numbness wore off in time as I order my Cubano and Brussels sprouts. I have to say that Lincoln in one of my favorites places for a work lunch. Actually, it’s a great place for anytime, but it’s more of a treat when I go during the work week.

Brussels Sprouts | Lincoln DC

Whenever I go, I usually order the Brussels sprouts as my main dish. It’s pretty substantial and very filling. The variety of sprouts changes often, so I almost never that the same sprouts twice. On this day, I had Brussels sprouts with strawberries, pine nuts, and a little sour cream. They were delicious as usual. I find their sprouts to be consistently delicious which is no easy feat! They are nice and toasty/crunchy on the outside and firm on the inside.

Cubano | Lincoln DC

However, on this day, I was pushing the envelope and ordering a sandwich as well. I ordered the Cubano (one of my most favorite sandwiches in the world next to grilled cheese) with sweet potato fries on the side. Mmmm, yesss Cubano. I’ve had a hard time finding a truly authentic Cubano in DC, but this one was definitely satisfying. I really wanted to scarf it down, but my mouth wouldn’t let me. It was still a little sore from the dentist. As I was working my way through half the sandwich, I noticed that my tooth felt a little funny. I asked my friend to take a look because it felt like my temporary crown was gone. It was! I ate my temp tooth! I can’t believe it. I’ve never eaten anything that wasn’t food before. I didn’t even notice anything crunchy or hard as I ate my sandwich. This in no way interfered with me finishing the rest of my sandwich, however. I’m a very dedicated eater!
