The Diner has become my all around “go-to” for breakfast, brunch and 3am after-barhopping location. Miles and I have been going for a few years now and when we first started going, both of us would order a series of side dishes. One pancake, a side of bacon, a side of home fries with a scrambled egg for him and side of grits for me.
It’s now evolved into him ordering a breakfast sandwich with me ordering a side of bacon and a side of home fries. And I always order a Bloody Mary.
Although the wait staff can be a little slow, the food is always very solid. I starting bringing my mom on her visits and she fell in love with their shrimp and grits, so guess who has to make a stop now every time she’s in town 🙂
This visit, we started out of the house a little late and stopped in for lunch. I wasn’t in the mood for a 3pm pancake (they serve breakfast all day), so I went with the grilled salmon sandwich and home fries.
It was great! It was the first non-breakfast item I’ve ever ordered there (outside of tater tots) and I was very pleasantly surprised. They’ve always had an expansive menu and now I’m motivated to go back at various hours of the day and night to sample everything on the menu.
