I’ve had a jar of strawberry marshmallow fluff sitting in my cupboard for months now.  I’d never seen it before, so when I spotted it in the store, I immediately grabbed it thinking I would make something really creative with it.  Month after month it sat in the cupboard mocking me while I made grilled cheese sandwiches, parsley cake, basil ice cream and graham cracker cookies.

Finally the other night I was sitting on the couch finishing up a cheese sandwich, craving something sweet.  Usually, we keep a Ritter Sport (shortbread cookie covered in chocolate) in the fridge, but I haven’t been to the store for a while, so I was out of luck.  Or so I thought.  I opened my cupboard and saw the jar of strawberry fluff.  I quickly went to the other cupboard to see if I had any rice krispies and I did.  Finally, this jar was going down!  I may not have made something super creative, but I did make a very satisfying batch of strawberry rice krispies treats.  The only thing missing were the marshmallows from a box of Lucky Charms.  That would have been awesome.

Strawberry Rice Krispies Treats

  • 1 jar of strawberry marshmallow fluff
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 5 cups rice krispies
  1. In a large pot over low heat melt the butter. Add the marshmallow fluff and thoroughly combine until smooth. Remove from heat and add the rice cereal one cup at a time.
  2. Press into a lightly greased 8×8 pan (you can use whatever size you like). Let cool completely. Cut into squares.

🙂 We don’t get Rice Crispies here, otherwise I’d go right out and buy them and some sort of Marshmallow fluff and make them.
Too bad… 😉 Saves me lots of calories 😉
