There’s a chance you may have noticed that I like boozy desserts. Cakes, ice cream, pies, you name it, so get ready for another one. While I was visiting friends in northern MA, Miles and I grabbed sandwiches and while waiting for them I came across a bottle of RumChata. RumChata is a creamy horchata flavored liqueur. Within seconds of seeing the bottle I knew I was going buy it and make RumChata milkshakes.
Of course I needed to try it on its own first. It was creamy like Bailey’s Irish cream, but the flavor was all horchata, sweet with a hint of cinnamon. This was going to make a fantastic milkshake. Correction. It made a fantastic milkshake. I was going to make my own vanilla ice cream to try out the new maker, but bought a container of French vanilla at the last minute. This was a toe curling treat. It doubled at a cocktail and a dessert. I can’t wait to see what other boozy RumChata creations I can come up with!
- 3 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 2 ounces (3 ¾ tablespoons) RumChata
- ¼ cup milk
- ground cinnamon to taste
Combine ice cream, RumChata in a blender or milkshake maker until smooth. Add milk as needed for desired thickness.
Top with cinnamon to taste.
