I few weeks ago I made a Star Wars Cake and decorated the outside with Star Wars shaped marshmallows from the cereal. I saved the cereal for another use, mainly for snacking, but also keeping it for another purpose. I thought I’d make marshmallow treats with them.
This time around I thought I’d brown the butter to see if it would give the treats a subtle nutty flavor. It didn’t, but the treats were still tasty. One interesting note about these treats is that the cereal is made from corn, not rice, so the cereal actually tasted more like Apple Jacks. Ideally it would have been great to dip them in caramel, but I didn’t have any on hand, so I dipped them in chocolate. You can never go wrong with chocolate!
Star Wars Marshmallow Treats
- 1 bag (16oz) bag of mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 5 cups Star Wars cereal
- Chocolate for dipping (optional)
In a large pot over low heat melt the butter continue to cook the butter until it turns a deep golden brown. Add the marshmallows and stir until all have melted. Remove from heat and add the rice cereal one cup at a time.
Press into a lightly greased 8x8 pan (you can use whatever size you like). Let cool completely. Cut into squares.
